This page is my tribute to one of my favorite Western actors. Even now, more than 20 years after his death I still love to watch his old western movies. My special favorite is "Stagecoach". It was an great lost when John Wayne died at the age of 72 years old...

John Wayne or Marion Robert Morrison, which was his real name was born on may 26, 1907 in a small town in Winterset, Iowa. His parents was Clyde and Mary Morrison. He also had a little brother named Robert Morrison. john Wayne was married three times, Josephine Saenze, Esperanza Bauer and Pilar Wayne. And he had seven children four with Josephine and three with Pilar. He made his first movie in 1926, but the first real lead role was in 1930 when he made made the western movie "The Big Trail". John participated in more than 250 movies. and in 1939 he got his real breakthrough role as Ringo kid in John Fords western movie "Stagecoach". In 1969 he won an Oscar for his role as the one-eyed sheriff in "True Grit". John Wayne made a lot of other movies beside the western. Movies such as "Flying Tigers", The fighting Seabees" but it's the western movies most people remember him from. The last movie he mad was also an western, "The Shootist" in 1976. Three years later on June 11,1979 John Wayne died of cancer in a hospital in Los Angeles, California. But through his movies he will always be remembered as the true American hero...
